Alapaha is a town in Berrien County, Georgia, United States, along the Alapaha River. Alapaha developed from a trade settlement on the site of a Seminole village with the same name. The Town of Alapaha was incorporated in 1881 on the site of a Seminole village with the same name. Alapaha was incorporated by an act (Law #433) of the General Assembly of the Georgia legislature. That act set forth the framework for its municipal government.
Opinions differ as to the proper pronunciation of Alapaha, whether it is "A-LAP-Uh-ha," or "A-LAP-uh-haw."
